Are you a cartridge case short for your Vic-20 cartridge
collection?

Well simply buy a 3D printer for between about $400 and a few
tens of thousands of dollars, spend a few days working out how
to use it, then print a case out using the model I just uploaded
to the "Thingiverse". Easy eigh?

Here's the link:

Enjoy.

To save some coin just join your local makerspace. Great work, thanks.

It would be cheaper just to buy a 3DP than for me to involve myself with
the local PAY2HACK group.. :/

Probably cheaper again to actually cast a plastic case?

Then you need a mould that can stand 200+ Degrees Celcius and
a system for using it. DIY injection moulding machines have
been done before (and are on my "to do one day" list), but
with the average tinkerer's skills and equipment, I think
a 3D printer would still be the cheapest option (perhaps
using one of the 3D printing services out there would
be best of all).

I have STL files for a nice professional replica of the VIC-20 cart case
but am hesitant to order injection molded items due to the large up
front costs.

Still, if I could garner enough interest, it's not an issue to get them
made.

You could look at professional 3D printing services, eg.
Shapeways (http://www.shapeways.com/). Don't know if you would
have much luck price-wise, but might be worth a look.

Best of all would be if someone could get a hold of an original
mould. Does anyone have that sort of stuff?
