I'm digging it!

Love a bit of electro clash. Where can we access the NinjaTracker Plus
MODs? Would love to play these back on the IIGS.

Give me some time to put something together and get the rest of the GFX converted. Probably later tonight I will put up a disk image for vol 4. I am very curious to know how it sounds on real hardware, thanks for the offers! Do you guys have any externally powered speakers hooked up to your GS's? I have a feeling this will sound crap on the internal speaker

In the meanwhile I've posted some older images here in CSA2, these will be updated in the future.

each of these are 5mb images, only mount 1 at a time and do not rename! (must be named NTP). Also, by default only 1 song will play on repeat forever until you reboot. At least that's how I've been doing it, if there are commands to stop/skip tracks I do not know them.

Just keep in mind that GSPort (what GSPlus is based on) still had some
lingering bugs in the Ensoniq emulation with regards to NinjaTracker.

I did it again by the end of the paragraph. GSPlus is the best! GSPlus is the emulator of choice for current PC users IMO. GSPlus has the best and most accurate sound emulation, and also GSPlus has enhanced SDL support for greatly increased display options. GSPLUS!

Now that I’ve had a chance to download your disk images…thanks so much
for these creative works.

I have thoroughly enjoyed them. Playing the music back in Sweet 16 (the
IIGS emulator for macOS) and on my real ROM3, the music sounds better
than the audio output of GSPort (less clicks).

Also, I LOVE the icons you’ve made – if I had time, I was thinking I’d
like to make mass storage volume icons white instead of the default
grey. And the worm is cute.

And then there’s your 320 SHR graphics – love em. I hope someone can
help you out with a jukebox that’s more user friendly and will play one
song to the next automatically, showing these pieces of “album” art.

And finally those 640 SHR mode desktop pics on NTP Volume 4…wow.

I’ve never seen more gorgeous 640 mode images on the IIGS. I’m assuming
you used Super Convert v3 or v4 to get that dithering so spot on. Bokeh
and haze effects that translate so well?! My absolute favourites, that
really seem to give the IIGS desktop a depth it’s always lacked, are:

From Black & White: Babe, Lost2, Road2, Snow1, Tracks, Veils and Zilla.

From Experimental: Duskwalk, Forest, Lost and Path.

From Glass: Purples and Rain.

From Scenes: Field, September, Shore, Street, Sunset, Wheat and Zen.

From Zoomed: Foliage, Frozen, Grain, Haze and Wildflower.

I can’t wait to see more of your creative output!

Alex, your site is the absolute best resource for GS anything. When I first stumbled on it in the 00's, I spent every night for weeks catching up on all the stuff i missed in the 80's and 90's. I never left any comments thanking you for all the time you spent archiving, sorting, organizing lessons to teach others how to create new GS stuff, re-organizing your images endless, the list goes on. I am sorry for not at the very least leaving a hello and a quick think you because your work deserved it. I would like to thank you right now for all the time and energy and love you've put into http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za

It has not gone unnoticed. I do believe that many of the Retro GS guys around have also been through a similar journey through your pages. Your site, this community as a whole, and the friendly passionate people here, inspire me to create more things. I used to make icons as a kid for the Finder, and when I saw your Icon Mania! write up I had to get to town! The Desktop notes you shared made me want to convert some more SHR's, the HD images you made are where I got the software to do it. Without your site I wouldn't have taken the time to find any of the software to do these fun projects. Thank you Alex, let me try to share some of my notes with you in return!

The experimental desktops are made through a very strange, lengthy process that has a low success rate (prob 40%). I will type out another post with much more detailed notes later. To sum, they are "fake 44 color" images that use patterns for 29 of the colors. if you look at GraphicWriter III's color menu, it uses the same patterns to achieve the appearance of more color. I use those same patterns in GIMP, with a specific 44 color palette, and then select each color and replace it with the pattern. About 10 minutes per image once you set up your keyboard shortcuts and get the routine down. If I wasn't so thick I would learn to write a script to do this for me.

The B&W images pop because they maintain the full 640x200 resolution. The resizing process is different on the PC side. Target 640x400 first, then squash to 640x200. This will maintain your horizontal detail! Then color reduce. GIMP has a nice tool to reduce colors to 1 bit with dithering. I prefer a tool that allows you to tweak the dithering % though, so you can avoid some artifacting. www.ximagic.com makes a good photoshop plugin. Put the squashed 640x200 2 color image through SuperConvert, adjust the slider for the horizontal res, pick the right settings, and bam!

The others are standard 15 color reductions, but with specific palettes to ensure that the dithering algorithms choose the right colors. I like the ximagic tool because there are many different dithering techniques to choose from and I can eyeball the best ones. BMP2HDR is also wonderful but I do not have much experience with it. The A2 images have been fantastic though.

Finally, for the multiple palette image conversions, I like Prism and .tiff . I try to do as much prepping on the PC as possible first, sometimes going as far as removing "bands" of an image, reducing color, and pasting it back into the original image.

More notes coming soon. I am so happy you found the goodies :D There is much more I have to share (~100 icons and tons more graphix), but first to get caught up here! What format would you like for the palettes? I can just list the RGB values here, there aren't all that many

I'm very glad to hear that all my archiving efforts and blog posts have
inspired you! I guess I hoped they would, because I love to see
creative endeavours undertaken on the IIGS. Thanks for your kind words.

I love strange processes! :-)

I love how further dithering can yield great results with additional
"colours" in 640 mode and those patterns in GWIII are a great start.
AppleWorks GS also has some nice patterns extending the "range" of
colours in 640 mode.

I look forward to reading (and hopefully screen grabs, if not a video)
more of your process.

Have you ever played around with trying to get better results with 256
and 3200 colour mode images? Years ago I tried making 3200 colour
images from Photoshop, by setting up slices every horizontal line and
outputting each image (a single row) and reconstituting it in
Photoshop. The results were no better than all the other converters out
there, which was disappointing. I still feel there has to be a better
algorithm for producing 3200 mode images! I even tried a "1600" colour
mode, by creating slices every second row of pixels, thinking that
might work with dithering to create a better dither pattern and
reducing the banding commonly seen in 3200 mode images...nope, it
turned out no better :-(

I would LOVE to see more icons. I'd been thinking I'd really like to do
a complete icon replacement set for System 6, but really don't have the
time with so many other things to do (on the IIGS AND other life stuff).

Re: format for the palettes, I'm a Photoshop user myself, so whatever
would be easiest for you to export over that Photoshop could handle.

gfx.po 32 MB proDOS image (21 MB zipped)
800+ pics with comparisons of the different modes, desktops, and other experimental stuff including my 256 and 3200 color attempts
close to 200 new icons for all sorts of folders and file types
includes small icons and color masks
(icons do not play well on the desktop because of the masks)

if anyone wants to develop System 6 further, consider these files a donation towards that cause :) . A desktop background organizer NDA would be incredible if anyone is looking for a project!

Alex I have to head to work I will reply to your post in more detail when I get home. I have also made many of the same attempts as you, but for now hope you enjoy the package

sorry, I re-upped it to include the following in the Extras folder:
Finder (hacked Finder 6.0.4 to include replaced default rIcons only)
Sys.Icons (thank you Steve Stephenson) - replaces and adds icons to File Dialog
- consistent with the other icons in the package

There are MANY more utterly amazing 640 mode images on this 32meg
image! I loved going through them.

The icons are awesome too – I'm getting inspired to do a complete make
over for System 6, ideas I've had for ages. But my immediate desire to
do so won't work with the time I have available.

One thing I'd love to be able to do is find the SysFont v2.0 NDA to
change the font used on labels for disks, files and folders that was
shown off as part of Ian Johnson's Japanese language conversion of
GS/OS – but I've NEVER been able to find it. Does anyone have the
elusive SysFront v2.0 NDA?

Everything’s coming up roses! Apple IIGS System 6.0.4 Special Edition...

Thanks to you, Fatdog Productions, (I hope you can reveal to me who you
really are!) included your amazing 640 mode graphics conversions AND
complete icon replacement set for System 6.0.x, including changing the
built-in icons of the Finder and additional icon files for files,
specific folders, almost anything you can think of – it’s a refreshing
change.

Thanks to Atsuhiro Suzuki, I’ve finally found the elusive New Desk
Accessory SysFont v2.1 by Keiichi Urabe, who sadly passed away a few
years ago. This NDA makes up part of the total Japanese conversion of
GS/OS, which I’d like to play with in due time, but SysFont basically
lets you change the pull down menu and dialogue fonts within System
6.0.x! Ever since I saw early development pics of the IIGS Finder in
the Apple IIGS Book, which includes a DIFFERENT font for the text
sitting underneath icons, I’ve felt that Shaston 8 is too big and takes
up more space than it needs to, adding to the clutter of the IIGS
desktop. No more! I’ve replaced Shaston with Smallville 8, which is the
font used from MouseDesk! Although it looks different from Shaston, it
has a similar weight, but it’s much more condensed. SysFont also gives
you control over which apps can use different fonts – you can return to
defaults for other apps if you wish.

You might think, surely there already exists a system extension that
replaces the standard fonts in GS/OS. Yes, there was one by Dave
Leffler, but it made GS/OS quite unstable. SysFont seems to be rock
solid, apart from some missing characters, some of which I’ve attempted
to address, by including the open and closed Apple characters in the
Smallville 8 font (my dearly beloved Hermes looked awful without that
closed Apple in its menu bar!). I hope to replace others as I find them
and continue to use GS Font Editor (Font Factory 2.0 couldn’t seem to
find the more dingbatty characters!) replacing missing characters in
Smallville that are in Shaston.

You can get this System 6.0.4 Special Edition from here:
http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/files/System_6_0_4_Ult ra_SE.zip

I’ll update it semi-regularly if new 8 point fonts are worth trying, or
more desktop images (you can use the included DeskMaker NDA to change
between desktops, which are all kept in a “Desktops” folder in the root
directory) or icons become available. Let me know what you all think.

This is so cool :D

I've wanted a different Finder font since I was a kid. Thank you Mr. Urabe so very much for your contribution. Rest in peace, good sir. Your gifts live on in the digital space!

I found this when searching his name on google: https://mirrors.apple2.org.za/ground.icaen.uiowa.edu/Collect ions/1WSW/NF1WSW.SHK.INFO.txt

of interest to many people here would be:

TypeChanger.BXY
TypeChanger FX v1.0 (c) Keiichi Urabe /GEA00327
finder extension to change file types under Finder
Able to change multiple files with one operation

Playing with SysFont, and it does so much more than I could have hoped for. It's pretty amazing :) What a perfect little NDA. Was not expecting per application settings or an option to disable in 320. COOL!

It's an incredible coincidence you went looking for that Alex. I actually started two different tiny fonts, but never finished. They are like 30% complete. My intention was to do a complete visual overhaul with System 6 at some point, but ran into the same problems with Leffler's NDA so abandoned the fonts!

I also have about 60 new small, GUI-friendly rSounds. They all have prefixes in the resource title like GUI- or Sys6- so they are categorized in the Sound CPL. I think they sound pretty good, but don't use them much unfortunately. You jumped the gun man, I have more to share! :)

What else is there... oh! One of the things I really wanted to put into a 6..0.4 SE was "out of the box" ability to open popular filetypes from the Finder. Your pics, musics, font previews, animations, ARCHIVES especially, all the fun stuff. Finding the right combination of FExts and NDAs could do most of the work, but there's always gonna be conflicts. :/ The best solution to this would be to create a new, extensive and stable NDA that combines the best features of each. Handle text, SHK, pics, NTP music :p , TrueType previews, AIFF, WAV, more! That is my dream. Forget riches and fame, just gimme dat NDA!

Also, maybe get some feedback from the devs around here as to what must-have tools should be in a universal System disk. Stuff that would encourage new users to want to develop new stuff, ya know? Getting an SHK file onto an emulated proDOS disk, extracted with GSHK properly, maintaining naming conventions, this isn't newbie friendly stuff. No wonder there's a slow trickle of GS dev!

I think we have an opportunity to make a perfect disk image that can attract not only new, curious users - but also make it infinitely easier for those new people to make new stuff at the same time

TPIII with the right setup is also the door into everything for a new user exploring their first GS disk, I think. Maybe we should include the best of the best GS software to include (be extremely selective of course). I'd vote for PlatinumPaint and AWGS at least. For me they were the most used creativity programs by far. A couple of really fun, addictive, SMALL games would be nice too. I think SolarianGS is a great fit for a pack-in title game-wise

My friend from down under, we should learn to code...

Hey wait, I thought we were talking about NinjaTrackerPlus music here!

the soundcloud is up to 35 songs if anyone here is still interested! the are 3 new songs i've been working on over the past week, still GS playback of course

I've got this too and will have to check it out. I've used Bill Tudor's
system extra, I think it's invoked by holding the shift key down as
well as open-apple + "I". But it's a bit bloated. Something simple
would be good, and the prospect of doing multiple files at once sounds
amazing. Batch utilities on the IIGS aren't in great supply.

I know. Finally finding it hasn't disappointed :-)

Great minds think alike! I'd love to see your work on these fonts!

Awesome! :-) As they say in software development – it's never finished
– we'll simply add these new rSounds in an update. I'm keen to try to
plug more holes in the Smallville font as I find them.

At the moment, I've got various utilities installed that handle most
things to view them in the Finder – I'm probably missing a couple, but
it includes PicViewer
(http://www.brutaldeluxe.fr/products/apple2gs/picviewer.html) for
almost all image formats as well as viewing icons, Megabox for
SoundSmith and NoiseTracker music, and EllieFont for viewing fonts. But
I could also get DeskPlay installed for MODs and Sound It for playback
of pretty much any other type of sound file apart from rSounds (which
is now handled natively in System 6.0.4 with the Sound CDev installed).
I've got them installed now.

Devs, what do you think?

True, but this disk image will probably only work well in emulators.
Even in my workhouse ROM3 IIGS, I only have a 8Mhz/64k ZipGS, but I'll
see how adding more stuff to this disk image fairs on my setup.

I've got a private System/32meg volume that pretty much has EVERYTHING
linked from all my 32meg images via TransProg III. We could include
that as well. I tried sector editing the French v1.5 to translate it to
English...for the most part, it worked apart from some visual glitches,
but the benefits of the v1.5 probably outweigh it (for me, it includes
speed control over a ZipGS when launching apps).

> My friend from down under, we should learn to code...

I wish I could. I've recently moved into UI/UX and am working closely
with lots of devs...perhaps it'll rub off on me :-)

just kidding, I now remember why i made that font. I was testing it in 320 mode with Leffler's NDA to see how it looked. Now I wish SysFont had a 320 specific setting! I was going for something similar to Chicago on System 7 for macs

I love Smallville man, please keep working on it. I would use it for all menus over Shaston for sure!

Sorry Alex, I hadn't looked around your image enough when i typed my original comments. You have indeed covered all the bases, and alot of the stuff I use isn't freeware. I have a bunch of GS+ utils that I paid for back in the day through subscription.. Baloon, ICE, Alias thingy, etc. actually do you know if Mr. Wankerl (I believe he was the creator) can be contacted? Maybe he would be interested in the project?

This is a great point, I have been spoiled by unlimited speed through emulation and really have to start keeping that in mind. Don't worry about putting more stuff on there, and thank you so much for putting this together. If we want to target emulator users with a Championship Edition ;) we can do that separately!

I've made some updates:

Renamed the volume to “System” so it can make use of the customised
icon. It’s nice to have a difference between the boot volume and others
(which can be customised using the icon set and an icon editor to
assign to other volumes).

Improvements made to Smallville.8 font: Made a character spacing
adjustment to the open and closed Apple characters, so now (going by
how it appears in the Hermes NDA) there is now a space between the
closed Apple and the next character in pull down menus showing keyboard
shortcuts. Also added ©, ® and ™, as well as opening and closing smart
quotes. Basically, almost everything is now in place except
multi-language support i.e. including characters with accents, umlauts,
etc. I’ve ended up using Font Factory v2.0 as I better understand IIGS
fonts now – swapping between open windows of fonts is a lot easier than
using Beagle Brother GS Font Editor.

Installed Tool 221 and 222 for NinjaTracker and NinjaTracker Plus.

Also cleaned up some extraneous system extensions, which should make
boot-up a bit quicker and save a bit of memory. But added DeskPlay and
Sound-It so you can now open any music sequence or sound effect in the
Finder.

Now, there is something a little weird going on – I was experiencing
some desktop glitches – I suspect moving the load order of system
extensions might fix this, so I’ll just have to play around with
sorting Desk.Accs, System.Setup and CDev folders a little later when I
have more time. I was hoping adding the simple NDA Display Clipboard
would fix it, but it seems to be having problems of its own and is
greyed out – I don’t know why.

The previous version is still available under the same link previously
given (a backup has been made of the old one and can be accessed by
swapping the file in the URL with "System_6_0_4_Ultra_SE_v1.zip".

Maybe the next update will include new rSounds? ;-)

Awesome, thank you. I am _really_ loving the MouseDesk font as a straight replacement for Shaston! It is so much more efficient space-wise, I hope you can find time to work on it. I agree FontFactoryGS is probably the best tool. I wonder if it's possible to do the work on Win/OSX and find a way to import to GSOS. I looked for a utility to import TT fonts, but it only works with old style Sys7 Mac era TT fonts (needs the resource fork). I don't think there is a way to convert images to bitmap fonts either. Ah well, FontFactory is probably the best tool for the job. If you find yourself putting the font work down, let me know and I'll pick up where you left off.

One thing on Sound-It: it hijack's finder's use of rSound playback. with 6.0.4, Finder now releases the cpu on rSound playback to do other things. Sound-It uses the old-style playback where the cpu is held until the sound finishes. I suggest disabling auto-playback from the Sound-It NDA by default if it is going to be included! It CAN handle AIFF and WAV files (I believe), so it absolutely has its uses.

Feel free to rename the icons or anything else at your leasure. On my disk I set up an Apps/ folder in the root, then have one level of Music/Prod/Util etc folders (similar to the setup of your site). That's what some of the folder icons are for :)

Re: conflict issues. there are probably too many icons, or Sys.Icons hasn't been tested enough on my side, or maybe the Finder doesn't like having its resource fork modified at all. Most testing on my side seemed solid with the mix of extensions I have going, but I have run into stuff like unknown filetypes ($00) having missing icons, or windows with unknown files having totally garbled colors and icons. when i see this happen, GSOS becomes completely unstable and eventually crashes with all sorts of weird behavior in-between.

from what i read years ago, the icon cache that the Finder uses can get corrupted (at least on Sys 5). It was suggested to add an icon for unknown files to all icon files created (either first or last, can't remember). That didn't work for me. I thought maybe the hidden resource "Desktop" files were an issue. Deleting them and rebuilding from scracth always seemed to make my issues go away. Hope this helps, I will get my full System disk to you soon so we can combine our efforts!

I am also looking to free up some more time to work on this. Hopefully tonight. The pattern blending project burnt me out a little so I decided to work on the music some more. There are 8 new songs since last post, started Vol 5, and threw in an old track from Vol 1. new art for everything new, mostly beats, please take a listen if anybody has time!

Thanks for your message and proposal!

Just tell me the features you'd like to see and please make 2mg files instead of po images, that will be a time saver for me ;-)

NTPPlayer opens and plays one file at a time only, it does not handle the batch feature of the tool set. It stops playing music when you quit the finder, and it has no icon ;-)

Ok! If you want icons i got icons :D Anything you have in mind, just give me the word. 320/640 icons, buttons, visualizer, any old BrutalDeluxe stuff, anything at all. Alex Lee is pretty good at that stuff too I heard

2mg will be no problem going forward too, my next release coming soon will be a 16 mb image with all of the songs in 5 folders, about 80 tunes. each folder will have its own menu.txt for the NTP demo, my work around for playlists was to move each "volume" (with its menu.txt) back and forth from /DemoStuff. Do you want to include playlist capabilities?

features, what you have done so far is already enough! but if you want to go crazy with it, how about something like this? https://imgur.com/a/UtW9Jrx

i think something similar would be the most useful application of your extension! to keep it playing nice with other games etc, maybe force the extension to STOP/disable when it encounters any Ensoniq usage, until return to Finder?

I can also offer some music conversion, so you can include enhanced versions of your favorite old Amiga tunes with your release! if you have anything in mind, please share and I will whip something up. I have some new tricks for getting 150K mods down to 64K sample size :)

RE: your video, thank you very much. that's the first time i've heard it from real wood! much better than i was expecting.

What does your sound setup from the GS look like? Was that just the internal speaker?

Also, what's your volume setting in the Control Panel? (The NTP code uses that setting i believe). I remember my old GS getting a little distorty on anything above half way (and similarly through emulation curently). Does it sound like that at default volume?

Antoine you are my new favorite person if that is ok with you

I also asked Ninjaforce for a NFC icon.

I need to clean the code, test on a real machine, write the documentation, the installer. And then, I'll share the beast with you. I do not plan on adding playlist capabilities (though the tool is capable of handling such a feature)

That is a neat idea. For a v2 :-)

That is what I have in mind. Have an option to keep playing when an app is launched. Probably for a v2 as well.

Cool!

It was not playing from real wood. It was recording from Sweet16.

That is the internal speakers of my iMac ;-)

On all my IIgs machines, the sound is set to the default volume that is used by the NinjaTrackerPlus toolset.

That is kind of you :-)

I put a beta version @ http://www.brutaldeluxe.fr/products/apple2gs/ntp/
It seems yesterday's version behaves better than today's one :-(

Congrats!

I have bad news though. On my 6.0.4 install, nothing happens when I open a file. Probably a conflict with something on my end, I will try to troubleshoot. I did notice that having your NTPPlayer in FinderExtras or SystemSetup also breaks rSound playback in Finder (through double-click or control panel play). No sounds play at all in GSPlus 0.14 with my System disk anyway :(

Removing the NTPPlayer init and rebooting restores rSound playback. Hope this helps!

ps - "requirements: 1K available memory," are you trying to show off, Antoine? :D

Frank, sorry I missed your q. THANK YOU. That is certainly something I don't want to break. I forgot to re-enable coloring for the large folder. Sorry for the inconvenience. As a temp fix you can view by small icons and retain the folder coloring. If you hold the option key while clicking on the Special menu in Finder, the "Clean up" menu item changes to "Clean up by name" which will auto sort everything in the folder :)

btw - the colors are slightly off now because of the checkered blue default icon, and this might be a problem going forward with my design. might have to rethink the color scheme or pattern usage a bit. I will check other icons for coloring issues but I want to disallow it for the custom folders like System and Icons etc

Also, Thanks for testing on your machine, great news. Did you use an emu?

Antoine,
no luck when disabling all other FExts/Inits/NDAs/CPLs in 6.0.4 in GSPlus. I think it's the changes from 6.0.1 to 6.0.4, which complicates. I do not know how popular 6.0.4 is with GS users. I will test your extension on 6.0.1

I so wish I could give more relevant info to you

Here are some notes pulled from here: http://a2central.com/7396/the-source-is-strong-with-this-one -system-6-0-4/

Finder
When opening resource sound files with only a single rSound and no application is assigned to that file type, the Finder sends a finderSaysOpenFailed event. This lets the Sound CDEV play the sound (if no other system extension handles it first). Most sound files in the System:Sound folder can be played by the Finder.

Thank you for being you

That is why it is beta software ;-)
Could you share your System 6.0.4 disk image, please? There is no reason why it should not work. NTP is type $D5/0008 whereas sound files are $D8/000x.

Your idea of the different error handling for files in the Finder is interesting. But I do not use 6.0.4, therefore getting your image would help.

Thanks,
Antoine

I removed some GS+ magazine software I had installed, but otherwise everything is as-is. SysFontNDA is disabled (bug - it breaks the gs/os program installer).

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ZrpmFXLo24jF_Vup5IWFo4_QOY KltKrl
system.6.0.4_fd.2mg 32 MB (ProDOS name "System")

nttplayer beta is installed to FinderExtras through installer. Sound Control Panel and rSound from finder are broken also :(

If you disable or remove ntpplayer, rSound functionality returns (test double click with 6.0.4!)

Good luck Sir Vignau

Hi there,
I had a bad branch in my code which would accept all Finder calls if not a finderSaysBeforeOpen, ahem...

But... if you want your System image to play NTP songs, you should have Tool222 installed ;-)

That makes me believe that I will put NTPPlayer on the Tool222 install disk and copy the toolset with the player.

That will ease users' life.

Antoine

ps. why is the default quit button set to Restart on 6.0.4?

Interesting findings:
- double-click a rsound will generate an unclaimed sound interrupt when a ntp song is playing, that is not normal
- changing the sound from the Sound control panel runs fine (but the player will stop, which is normal)

I'll check code differences... it is in the Sound cdev, patching the Sound toolset. We have a conflict, Houston! Starting the Sound toolset is an option, I'll study that.

v1.0b2 is now available @ http://www.brutaldeluxe.fr/products/apple2gs/ntp/
It solves the bad branch issue, nothing more.
That should let you play songs from the Finder now ;-)

It works! You have made me so incredibly happy Antoine! Thank you so very much, and you have made quick work of it too

It sounds _exactly_ like NTP demo on my machine. Opening new songs at any time works flawlessly. Songs play 1x to end like they should.

I tried to duplicate the rSound interrupt issue, and got the same result as you on the first rSound i double clicked. But on repeated attempts, the song successfully stopped and the rSound played correctly. Weird. Now, after a new instance of GSPlus, the interrupt is triggering on every rSound double clicked.

Perhaps Finder uses a specific channel for rSound playback? If the .ntp file is currently using that channel, it would make sense for the interrupt error. This is just a guess.

I have also seen the Sound Interrupt issue with Other Things in 6.0.4. I cannot recall exactly where, sorry. But I'm sure it had to do with long aTune songs and a music NDA of some sort

re: Finder shut down menu: there is a program on my System image in Apps/Utility/ called Geeker. It shouldn't be there, it's from GS+. You can toggle 3 minor Finder tweaks with it (Default folder color, default Shutdown toggle placement, and the character used for a comma "," I do not know why).

How should I put the thank you on the "album" cover art?

2. more of a feature :) instead of stopping abruptly at song end, instruments finish the full sample playback resulting in a few extra seconds of sound which is kinda cool!

all other testing is going swell.

do you know how the songs that come with NTPdemo achieved their loudness? I think my mastering process needs improvement, my songs only seem half as loud
