Flip the clicky switches to load bytes into memory and watch the blinky LEDs flash! Just like the real thing, only slower and lower resolution.

Cool stuff, Charles, congrats!

Is there a direct link to the pdfs? archive.org and its page thing is unusable on my smartphone.

Thanks,
av

That is sweet! I'll download the image and play with it.

Thanks. :)

Did anyone spend much time playing with this? I just got around to downloading it. It runs okay from a floppy on my //e, but is not happy running from HDD. I looked at LOADER.SYSTEM quickly in the sector editor (BLOCK.WARDEN from ProSel 4.0) and it seems to look for volume /SIM8800 directly, so maybe it can be patched trivially.

When running from floppy the 4K BASIC works (yay!) but I didn't have luck loading the 8K BASIC. The disk motor runs for a while then it just stops and the program seems to hang. Microchess works though.

Strangely 8K BASIC works in GSPort.

Just wondered if anyone ran into these issues before me? I think this is a neat project, so I would like to get it (and ALTAIR 8K BASIC) working, preferably from a directory on my HDD.

Oh, and thank you Charles ... this is a nice toy!!

Nobody has mentioned these issues before, so I think you're the first
to actually play with the program itself :)

I mostly run the emulator in Virtual II to take advantage of the
speedup, but I'll have to look into the 8K BASIC loader and see what
it's (not) doing on real hardware.

Thanks for taking a look, and I'll post an update to github once I know more.

You could also open an "issue" on github, so I might get another prod
to fix it...

Thanks Charles. I will open a Github issue. It would be nice if the LOADER.SYSTEM just used the current prefix rather than an absolute path.

OK raised two tickets on Github. I will be delighted to assist with any testing if you need real hardware.
