running this way now?

On VICE?

Not to sure about, the problem with VICE and C-Net / IMAGE BBS, is storage!
These are HUGE programs, and VICE does not support REL files in anything by
NATIVE drive emulation. Which means you would be limmited to however many 81
drives you can emulate! You might be able to get away with using an X-1541
type cable and a CMD HD clone, but I do not have any experience with this, so I
can not say for sure if it works.

If you are going to spend the money on a CMD Hard Drive clone, might as well
just get true hardware, a Swiftlink clone, and use a terminal server solution
on a PC, or a dedicated network device such as MRV or One Port.

There should be plenty of BBS programs available for VICE. I for example
find the image "6485 BBS v7.0c (1986)(Dixie)" in my collection and
others. Email me, if you are interested.

But I wonder how you would connect the BBS to the outside world with
VICE. I couldn't find something like modem emulation which would use your
real internet connection to do this.

I don't plan on having a huge file base. A emulated 1581 for the BBS,
a emulated 1581 for the subs and a emulated 1541 for the files. maybe a 4th
for the pfiles, gfiles and misc files. I love C-Net and was real close to
having one up. C-Net12 was almost ready.
Now getting it to connect to the internet and answer calls was the last
part I did not get to work. This was many years ago. This winter, when
staying in and staying warm may be the time I dive back into this project.

do a google on tcpser - it will allow you to emulate a modem via tcp - I
have used it before so I know it does work

I also heard earlier today that C-Net DSII for the C64 is back in
development and getting it Vice compatible is one of the goals.

The issue I found with IDE64, is that it uses memory locations IMAGE BBS
requires, so you get an out of memory error. Simmilar to trying to use the LT
Kernel with our having the Hi-Mem cable attached.

Will I now have a dedicated PC ready for WinVice and C-Net64 (when its
ready). For now I am setting it up so Windows boots, then WinVice loads and
all you see is the C64 screen.

The last version was handed out back when you needed a dongle and it
was not Y2K ready. So as of now, there is no current version. We are all
waiting for that release.
