I've been using apple computers since 1985 and I have a LOT of old apple
hardware, software, cables, etc. that I've collected over the last 30+
years. From printers to monitors to whatever, I even have stuff like the
old personality (Houdini) cards.

As we are moving, it's time to let this stuff go. I don't have time to sell
items on eBay, etc. So should I just trash the stuff, or is there a way to
get some cash out of it?

I'd hate to give it to Goodwill or the dump, especially if I can get any
$$$.

Thanks for any insight.

By the way, I live near Charlotte, NC.

I might be interested in something you may have. No shipping needed as I
live in Raleigh and have family in Charlotte. A list of what you have is
probably better suited over on the swap list.

Yes - if you can post a list of what you have on the swap list I'm sure
some of it will sell, particularly if you're willing to ship (at least for
small stuff). Most of us hate to see it go to the dump, too. Half the pain
of ebay for me is setting up the listing and photos and all that crap, swap
list folks have been easier to deal with in my experience.

Yes! I'd love to see what you have. I'd gladly pay shipping if there is something I'd want. +1 for a list :-)

Y'all are killing me. :-)

If there is interest, I'll put some effort into a list. But it's not going
to be quick. I've got some stuff at home, and LOTS in a storage building.
And I'm busy dealing with my elderly mom in another city. But if I can save
the planet and recoup of few of the $$$ I've spent over the years, it might
be worth it.

I'm sure a lot of folks are looking for particular items. But what?

I know I have an Classic, a color classic, an LC III, a Quadra or so, some
old Laserwriter NTX printers, a Laserwriter 320, an image writer and TONS
of software. I have a very nice scanner. I have a couple old laptops and
LOTS of accessories for them. I think I still have a Duo dock. Lots of
cables and such. Internal and external zip drive. Etc. Etc. There's really
no telling what all is there.

After all these years, I need motivation to go through this stuff. I wish
someone would just come buy it ALL. But I'm sure a list would be required
for that, too. Soo... I'll put some serious thought into putting one
together.

Good hearing from some fellow Apple users.

Thanks!

The way I look at it is that all my old gear is money spent. I've had my
joy out of the stuff will past the point if it being a modern bit of tech.
Most of the stuff I have now is old, some of it might be worth something,
but probably only to a collector.

I'd rather give my stuff to someone I know is actually going to use it and
reap some joy back, instead of stick it on a shelf to type rot.

I'd certainly be interested in the DuoDock. Any games floating around in that software?

I'd be interested in some older machines - definitely the color classic.
Would love to see what software / other misc stuff you have around too.

I don't understand.

You asked if people would be interested, they show interest, then yo
complain that they are asking what you have, and that it is too much work
to? Either you are willing to put in the effort to let people know have
you have or your not simple as that. You statement that you nave TONS of
stuff you want to sell is sort of like saying I tone of food available to
eat, want to buy some?

To be fair - I think the OP's statement sounded more like he needed to get
rid of it and hated to see it go to waste, but has a lot of other things
going on at the moment.

As someone who has moved my piles of "useful stuff" more often than I'd
like in the last few years, there is a vast difference between wanting to
send it to a good home and having the time to organize, list, photograph,
sort out offers, and mail and ship dozens of items. It's more like saying
"I have this giant vegetable garden and I don't know if anyone can use it",
then ten of us are immediately asking can you pick me a tomato and mail it,
and do you have purple ones too? Yes, either you are willing to put in the
work or not, but there is a lot of other life that has to happen sometimes,
too.

For the other poster who wanted it, here are the links for the LEMswap list
and FAQ/guidelines - you can find them both through the LEM website:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/lemswap

As a newbie to this group, I certainly did not mean to cause confusion,
Louis. I guess I was actually wondering if some one or some business bought
bulk collections where it could all just be loaded up and taken away. But
that's probably not realistic. However, I was PLEASANTLY surprised to see
so much INDIVIDUAL interest there is in some of the older stuff.

A list is certainly a reasonable request. Frankly, I don't even know what
all I have. But again, I just wasn't expecting this conversation to go in
that direction.

I do have a lot going on in my life at the moment, including some
unplanned, high priority issues in my personal life and my family. So while
this forum has given me incentive to come up with some type of list, I
provided that information hoping folks will understand my "list" will not
be available immediately.

THANKS to all who have sent me notes. I'm honestly not in position to offer
any immediate sales or whatever. And I have no clue what any shipping costs
are. But I do appreciate your comments and your interest.

Please allow me some time and I will follow though. Hopefully I can help
someone!

Thanks again!

I  too know the feeling of not wanting to see all your stuff go to waste. When i closed my printing business I had nearly 30 years of Mac stuff left over. It took nearly a year to catalog everything. Once cataloged, I found a regional used mac dealer who took most of the best stuff away and paid a reasonable price. i realize you may not have that much time available. The LEM Swap list also helped with specific items. Pick out some good ones; you will likely get interest. You could also try Craig’s List or Freecycle with the stipulation that the offer is for Mac enthusiasts only.
Best of luck— glen
PS If anyone is interested  I still have many items left over. You can view or download the PDF catalog from dropbox at:https://www.dropbox.com/s/2g64f4ivbpqz92e/MacStuff_Vol1.p df?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/h02gbxx8pnix1pe/MacStuff_Vol2.pdf? dl=0
Every item has a photo, there is a good table of contents with bookmarks; any anything sold is marked. All listed prices are negotiable; just like to get this stuff into any Mac’ers hands that can use them.

Was not trying to be mean or anything, probably came off wrong. If you
want to generate real interest you have to give people some idea of what
you have, most times for old computers I don't know I want it until I
actually see it, so a post like I have a huge amount of stuff with not even
a small list of the "major" items just leaves me with well what does he
have that I might want?

I'd be interested in the software end of it, and perhaps the cabling. I
have an SE that I've been slowly building up (everything works rather well,
have an external Zip for it) and I wouldn't mind getting some real
authentic software for it. Most of what I have is downloaded from the
Macintosh Garden. I'm also working on getting it networked up so I can take
it on the Internet. I'm hoping that with some Local Talk hardware, I can
rig things up so that my PowerMac can function as an Internet gateway of
sorts, but if you've got any kind of direct SE specific ethernet equipment,
I'll gladly pay shipping and handling on that. I'm in PA, so I'm not too
far away. I'm thinking it would be about an 16 or 18 hour round trip if I
were to drive for it. Lemme know.

Hi James - I believe I have a zip drive, and maybe some zip disks if you're
interested. I'll go through storage today and look.

I have one (somewhere?!); I just always thought of it as a "bigger Zip" — but there must have been some other reason for getting it originally.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Jaz drive uses more of
a removable hard disk type cartridge rather than a floppy disk type of
medium...more like the old Syquest drives...which may not mean anything to
you either! Jaz drives were available in 1Gb (and later 2Gb) capacities,
compared to 100Mb/250Mb/750Mb of ZIP drives. Otherwise similar in function.

Ah...here we go - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaz_drive

A friend worked at a local college in their arts department at a time when
they were using Jaz drives, pretty sure that was the System 9 era...but I
couldn't tell you for sure. Just googled it...section 5 here -
http://www.ntanet.net/nta/Jaz.html - indicates System 7.x support. I would
assume that is Jaz 1Gb support...not sure if 2Gb drives would be the same...

I own one and it works great even in 7.0.1, the drivers are not required
for the drive to work, but the drivers offer helpful things like eject and
other tools.

That's correct. At the time, they were used a lot in multimedia businesses,
since they were 1G and zips at the time couldn't hold that much. They are
physically bigger, about 4" x 4" x 0.5". The drive I have is an
external/portable, and requires a SCSI port, so I believe they were a bit
faster data transfer also at the time, unless the zips were scsi, I don't
remember.

I recommend you go to https://68kmla.org and post a list of what you have,
you will certainly garner a lot of reaction. Please don't throw it out,
please.

The JAZ drive does interest me, but I have a few zip disks handy. Which is
why I'm trying to get my hands on an external drive.

If there is a Macintosh SE30 logic board I would be interested.

I have an old MO400, it’s an Apple 12” grayscale monitor but am missing the video cable? Any chance you have these but I am in Poland. Are you willing to ship?

Kind regards
Alex
