Hello everyone.
I want to start programming on my IIGS. How do I start? I dont have APW or any of that, however I do have Complete Pascal, but cannot find anything for it like tutorials. I know modern languages, just not this one, or how to do anything on it.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you!

Thanks for your reply. Id be very interested in that, HOWEVER Im not sure if this programming is even something I want to stick with, so I dont know if I want to spednd anything yet.
Anyways, I have Complete Pascal installed. I have also found the example programs for it too. Im stuck right now though. There are no examples on how to make things move, wait functions, etc etc. Anyone know how to make things move or have a wait function?

How about the manual? This site should be known to all IIgs fans:
http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/complete-pascal-was-tm l-pascal-
Also this other site has other programming info:
http://apple2.gs/
Unfortunately some other sites have disappeared including PZ's and Mike Stephens' (aka Polymorph).
Cheers,
Nick.

Thanks everyone for your help. Im still looking for a tutorial type thing for beginners though for Pascal, or at least some good examples. I have not been able to find much yet, however everything thats been posted will be of great use!
What Im looking for is a source code for a simple game probably. That ways I can see the code for graphics and the movement and stuff.

A couple of Mike Stephens' Pascal demos are here:
http://www.retrobattlestations.com/IIgs/Polymorph/
Hopefully he gets his website back up soon ...
Note that he created the Call Box 2.0 System 6 patch listed on their site.
(I know nothing about this stuff except what a quick google told me.)
Cheers,
Nick.

OK. So I have been programming in GSoft basic now.
Everything is fine, HOWEVER.
I know that GSoft can have access to quickdraw commands. The basic draw commands work, but the drawstring() does not. It just shows text as ????. Im guessing its because the screen is set for HGR, and not text and graphics? How can I add text? Pascal could do both at the same time...

Can you elaborate on this a little? What do you mean by "the source code for the coloring is completely messed up"? What are you viewing the source code with?
From memory I provided source code for both Complete Pascal and Orca Pascal. You should open the source code in the respective programming environment.
If you still think that there are issues, I'll take a look tonight when I get home...

Oh, that was my fault. Im assuming I should have downloaded the code, put it on a floppy disk, and THEN load into pascal, right? I just opened it in Firefox! Haha.

Where's that Call Box 2.0 System 6 patch? I couldn't find it on Mike's site.

Just a clarification - I had nothing to do with the Call Box 2.0 patch.
I believe that there has been some confusion as *William Stephens* (the guy behind So What Software) and I share the same surname. :-)
Cheers,
Mike

Ah! True, the confusion is my fault, apologies.
I didn't have any tools handy so just hex edited the file to peek inside
and conflated the names.
Cheers,
Nick.

In any case, thanks to you both for advertantly and inadvertantly
pointing me in the direction of the System 6.0.x patch for Call Box. I
never knew it existed. I'll add it to What is the Apple IIGS's archive
entry for Call Box.
It was also interesting to see the So What Software page again - I was
sure it disappeared several years ago.
