I am looking for the System disks of an Apple II clone, the IMC Jr. This clone has both the 6502 and the Z80 CPU onboard. It was bundled with a dedicated CP/M version and an MS-DOS version.
Unfortunately, there is almost no information about this clone on the Internet. I hope that someone on this forum can help me.

Thank you

Are you able to share some pictures of inside this machine? this might help guide what sort of Apple II clone it is.

Did you try a standard Apple Dos 3.3 master disk?

Hello,

Yes, it boots the Dos 3.3 just fine. But not the CP/M copies I could find on Asimov.
As soon as I have the chance to open it, I will post some pictures of the Inside.
In the meantime, here is a link to the only web page I've found related to it.
It is in french and it has few information.

Good to hear it boots the normal Dos 3.3.

I wonder why the CPM disks do not boot, I would have thought it would be a blatant clone of having the Z80 card installed. There are a few variations of Z80 card around, not to sure which one they would have used. I suppose the Microsoft one is the most common. Tough without any more info on it.

Maybe some others who have clones with Z80's onboard can share their experiences.

I have recently acquired an iMC Apple clone also. It does not have any Z80 card onboard, so I think it will be quite different to yours. You can see some pictures here if you are interested.

MS-DOS? Would that not indicate it had an 8088 onboard instead of (or
alongside) the Z80?

A common problem with making real disks from CP/M images is incorrect
sector order.

I'd suggest trying the image-to-physical disc conversion again, using
alternate sector order.

That would be my guess as well, but I'm also wondering if that machine has
less than 64k of memory. There was a special version of Microsoft CP/M for
48k systems.

I had a couple of different boot disks for CPM for the original softcard that were pre v2.2. One had a v1.6 that did not work with my CPM card and one without a version number that did. These were copied disks, so even the v1.6 could even be incorrect.

But my point is, I think there are a few copies of CPM boot disks around and some seem to work and some don't.

Hi,
I have a portcomm apple clone that is'nt working but i was able to use the z80 card on a real apple computer using apple ii z80 softcard software, basically a cp/m boot disk for the card. Should work on the potcomm since its a clone.

Hi Rob,
Sure, i'll post some tonight. it is actually quite different from the imc/jr in that it is a portable computer with inbuilt screen and two 5.25" drives.
the power supply is bad but works fine hooked up to a pc's supply. Cheers,
Nik

No problem.
It is the same beast. I'm looking for a quad power supply or two small 12v/5v that can be connected in series to obtain positive and negative voltage outputs that will fit.
see link below for photos and the keyboard ROM image.

Yss, looks exactly the same :-).

Thanks very much for the keyboard rom, that one would have taken some effort to sort out. I'll burn one later today and hopefully that gets the keyboard working.
And also thanks for the tip for the keyswitch. I had had a look though ebay but had not found anything yet.

I'm thinking of getting one of these to replace the power supply with:
https://www.ultimateapple2.com/catalogzen154/index.php?main_ page=product_info&cPath=1_16&products_id=112
I think it should physically fit ok. If not, I;ll have a replacement for one of my Apple II's.

I'm assuming the small screen runs off 12v? Not to sure what the total requirement then is for the 12v supply.

I see you have a card of some sort in slot0, what does this have on it? is it a language card?

thanks again,
Rob

Hi Rob,
Here's a current link for the keyswitches,
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1 313&_nkw=ACORN+BBC+MICRO++KEYSWITCH+-+SMK+VINTAGE+LINEAR +TYPE+2+-+ANGLED&_sacat=0

Yes i think the monitor needs 12V. I've ordered a 60W quad power supply from China, hopefully it will supply enough power.

I'll have a look at the card in slot 0 tonight.

Cheers,
Nik

Hi Rob,
The card in slot 0 is a ROM card. The machine won't boot without it. I get the same message on screen as you have at the moment. Pressing a key gives a loading message but just hangs. I have added a couple images of the rom card on the yola site.
Regards,
Nik
