Hi Guys,

I recently downloaded a copy of AppleWorks GS 1.1 from asimov (4x .2mg
images, one for System, Program, Utils and Tools). If I use my CFFA3000
to boot straight to the system disk, then fire up Appleworks.GS from
the Finder on the Program volume, everything works perfectly.

But I wanted to have my own bootable system where all of the Appleworks
GS files were there. So I created a blank ProDOS 32MB image, copied the
PRODOS files from the AppleWorks GS System disk and then ran the
AppleWorks GS installer program.

The system boots up almost as far as the finder, and shows the error
'Sorry, system error $0010 ocurred while trying to run the next
application'.

Is there a correct way to install AppleWorks to a blank disk image?

I tried also using a pre-existing System 6.0.1 image which boots into
the fully featured finder all OK and even starts AppleWorks, but when I
launch the word processor or any other AW app for that matter, it
bails, so I guess it has run out of free memory. It's a ROM03 GS with
1MB RAM. Wish I had more RAM!

Cheers,

Alistair

You need 1.25MB RAM to run AppleWorks GS. That is going to be your main
problem, I'm surprised it runs at all with only 1MB.

A ROM03 has 1.125MB of ram onboard, so with the 1MB card, it has
2.125MB of ram, so it should run. What I think is wrong is that
a single 800K disk doesn't have enough space to run Appleworks GS.
It should be easy enough to add another 32MB image to his CFFA3000
and install it there. I run all ProDOS 32MB images from a 2GB USB
stick, and my Disk II images from a 128MB CF card. It doesn't seem
to make sense to run RAW partitions when you can run from images.
