I thought this was the most filled-out Cinematic Titanic yet, with
little of the dead spots that bugged me in past episodes (I think
that's one thing that MST3K took care to avoid). I may not have
laughed as hard as I did at some of the jokes in "Legacy of Blood",
but that and this are definitely the best so far, IMHO. Here are some
of the lines that I grinned at:

[screams heard]
"I'm not saying that's a rough birth... but that's the MIDWIFE!" -Josh

[revival attempt]
"Don't be so quick to give up on the slapping!" -Josh

[unintelligible vampire mom]
"What's that, Mom? Timmy's trapped in a soul-sucking netherworld?" -
Josh

"K.D. Lang *IS* the Phantom of the Opera!" -Trace

[duel challenge]
"So be it: Pompadours at sunrise!" -Joel

"Yeah, you seem fine... heh heh heh... CUCKOO CUCKOO CUCKOO!" -Frank

"Well, what do you know... My evil deeds WILL haunt me to the end of
time. Interesting" -Frank

"It's an *appendectomy"... FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE!" -Trace

"I am calling on God to send in an airstrike!" -Josh

(and, for those, like me, who like a bit of surrealism, I think you'll
get a kick out of that phone host-segment with Frank)

You know with all this talk about Cinematic Titanic I am *just*
this far away (I'm not all that far away) from actually buying the shows.
It'd just be so much easier somehow if it didn't have to be online.

If what didn't have to be online?

I decided that I don't want to download and then burn them, but rather
have them send me a disc. It's way easier, and I end up with a nicer
looking disc (and box if I want to keep it).

Um, if they weren't online, they wouldn't exist ...? I'm not
COMPLETELY certain, but I believe there is evidence to suggest that
you do have regular access to the internet. :) You can order the
discs without having to leave the house, without even having to get
dressed. :) Unless you're expecting someone to personally deliver
them to you on a silken cushion, I don't see how it could get any
easier. :)

I've enjoyed all of the episodes, but "Blood of the Vampires" was
particularly good.

"It" what? (Do you mean you want paper, stamped, mail-in ordering?
*scratches head*) I buy the discs by preference rather than download the
episodes. It costs a bit more but I like having the official art and
saving myself the trouble of burning a disc, which I'm not always sure
my computer can actually do. And until a couple of months ago I was
still on dialup, so downloading wasn't even an option.

You all are really building up an exceedingly minor personality
quirk of mine (the quirk by which I don't feel comfortable buying stuff
online) into something ... I don't know, but fussy. Yes, I'm a lot
happier when I can buy stuff in an actual store. I know that's not the
Cinematic Titanic sales model and I know that's not workable for them
on terms that let them stay in business. I understand that. Still, it
is a rare event for me to buy something online --- I think I broke the
``three purchases'' barrier last year and that only with the donation
to Lawrence Watt-Evans's new serialized novel --- and even when I do
want something I have to work myself up to it. This isn't a fault of
Cinematic Titanic or the Internet in general. It's just one of my
enormous number of quirks bundled together into a personality.

I'm with you, Joe. I'd rather buy something hands-on in the store than
over the Internet. Not only is it the same personality quirk, it's
nice to use the credit cards as little as possible. Also, I don't have
the time or patience for downloading, which is why I still have a CD
collection but not an iPod.

That said, when I have no other recourse, I'll buy online, whether its
booking a trip or collecting all the CT releases. The latter has
definitely been worth it.

I think we were just confused about what "it" you meant. These movies
are unusual in that, even for those of us who don't mind that "it"
(purchasing the movie) is online, we're still wary of the other "it"
being online -- the actual self-serve process of downloading the whole
movie and burning it to your own disc.

Hey, you were the one who brought it up in the first place. If you
didn't want anyone to comment on something, why mention it at all?

I think there were extra posts due to some confusion about what you
meant by "buying online."

#1. the "original" model: you go to Amazon, enter a credit card #, and
a DVD is shipped to you.

#2. this newfangled Cinematic Titanic model, where you not only enter
a credit card, but then you have to download their special downloading
software, use the downloading software to download the movie, then use
some other software to burn the movie to a DVD.

I think the first couple replies (mine anyway) assumed that it was #2
that you didn't like. I'm so used to #1 that I don't even consider
it, but #2 is new to me, and I've discovered that I don't like it. So
when I hear someone else complaining, I'm inclined to think that he
has the same complaint as mine.

What a terrible idea! So this is what Cinema Titanic is, we can
happily ignore it. Real DVDs or DVD-Rs can be sold by amazon.com,
their third party Marketplace system, ebay "buy it now",
filmbaby.com, etc., no need to force downloading on us unless CT
wants to do so.

I suspect that Cinema Titanic was assaulted by Consultants From
Mordac with their "consumers like interactivity, so make things as
hard as possible for them and they'll buy more stuff."

Just FYI: You can also buy honest-to-goodness DVDs from Cinematic
Titanic, either through Paypal or with your credit card a la Amazon,
Your choice.

Such as? I find no cinematic titles listed at amazon.

Sounds like something a consultant would say; Are you or have you ever
been a consultant?

I mean no Cinematic Titanic issues are listed at amazon. What
would be wrong with listing Cinema Titanic titles on, at least,
amazon by, at least, their Marketplace system?

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant that you can buy from the Cinematic
Titanic Web site and receive an actual DVD (no downloading anything),
just as you would from Amazon. I've done that for every release and have
been properly charged and a few days later a DVD came in the mail. All
very professional.
I just meant that the downloading regimen that was described above is
not the only option and I didn't want people to be writing off CT
because of that misunderstanding.

Not now, not ever. In a number of interviews, the cast have noted that
CT is their company, and they are doing everything, right down to
fulfillment (i.e. actually packaging up and sending out the orders).
They aren't just "the talent." They are actually running this business
and they say they are applying the lessons they have learned from the
previous businesses they were, ahem, involved with.

Sampo (they're coming to Philadelphia in June and I CAN. NOT. WAIT.)

I can't speak for them as to why they have not put stuff on Amazon yet.
They may be trying to walk before they can run. They may just want to
keep everything in-house. I just wanted to note that you DON'T have to
download their titles. You can pay at their site and receive a
professionally packaged DVD in the mail, just as you would on Amazon.

Sampo (and the titles are very, very funny)

I'm sorry, I misunderstood.

It is misleading that whenever the subject of Cinematic Titanic is
brought up, the subject of downloading is brought up too. I might
be confused with whatever rifftrax is, and wikipedia says that C.T.
started as download-only, so maybe that's it.
