11 p.m. (PDT) Night of the Lepus (1972), as I recall this was Mike's
training film when he was still a newbie in Season 5. Plus, it has Dr.
McCoy not saying "he's dead Jim".

12:30 a.m. (PDT) The Giant Claw (1957) with Jeff Morrow (Exeter from This
Island Earth) and Mara Corday (from The Black Scorpion from Season 1), and
Morris Ankrum from a couple of episodes, including Rocketship X-M. This is
a good candidate for Joel and the CT crew.

Ooh. You know, in the Eastern time zone that means the movie
is playing on the International Rabbit Day.

Well, this looks promising. Per Wikipedia:

Morrow later confessed in an interview that no one in
the film knew what the titular monster looked like until the
film's premiere. Morrow himself first saw the film in his
hometown and, hearing the audience laugh every time the monster
appeared on screen, left the theater early, embarrassed that
anyone there might recognize him.

Not the Claw. The *Claw*.

I've actually seen an amateur MiSTing of this on You Tube. Oh. My.
God. Bad doesn't even begin to cover it...

Before the monster shows up, the movie's just another cheesy '50s
monster movie. But after the monster shows up...oh, man. In order to cut
costs, the producers farmed out the special effects work to a Mexican FX
company. Remember the special effects from the Mexican "Santa Claus"?
Now imagine effects of that caliber used to create a monster that was
ostensibly supposed to scare adults.

It is *awesome*. It's right up there with Ro-Man and Guilala in the Hall
of Bad Monster Fame.

OK, preliminary reactions:
- I love how this has the same first couple minutes as The
Deadly Mantis.

- The attempt to give Protagonist Man personality by insisting
he kind of makes his own rules is almost endearingly clumsy, up to the
point they introduce spanking. Then it gets to where you think people
these age could be my grandparents and eeeeew.

- I love the shot of the jet plane flying backwards.

- 'New York International Airport'. Wow, haven't heard that
one since, like, 1941.
