I have a Microsoft 80-column card which is giving me some trouble
when running Ascii Express. According the manual for the latter, ESC K
(something K at least) allows one to enter a capital letter. However,
mine stays in CAPS mode and I cannot get back to lower case mode. Is my
problem with the 80-column card or configuration of AE?
Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated.

Your problem is with the configuration of ASCII Express. Make sure that the
option "lower case wire installed" or something like that is set right. I
use AE with the Rev 7+ keyboard encoder modification to give me an upper and
lower case kybd on my ][+. You can also use the one wire shift key mod. Read
the section of the AE manual about the configuration options and it will give
you information about how to set the parameters for the shift mod that you have
if you have a //e it might be that you have told AE to look for the ][+ one
wire shift key mod instead of the //e's full ASCII keyboard. Also, try to
"80 column firmware enable" or something like that. It is usually best to
turn it off and let AE use the keyboard without the 80 column board filtering
(and possibly converting cases). Hope this is helpful.
